Quoting the Quill #2

I have been neglecting this meme shamefully. Here is to bringin’ it back!

The quote that I chose for today is from the book Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare.

You know that feeling,” she said, “when you are reading a book, and you know that it is going to be a tragedy; you can feel the cold and the darkness coming, see the net drawing close around the characters who live and breathe on the pages. But you are tied to the story as if being dragged behind a carriage, and you cannot let go or turn the course aside…”

There is so much truth to this quote. I don’t have to explain it to you guys. You know exactly  how perfect it is, or else you wouldn’t have stumbled across this blog. With a love of reading comes a love of emotion. As a reader you don’t read something because it will make you feel happy and content and that everything is going to be okay. You read because you want it to make you feel. And the best writing make us feel every spectrum of emotion, and at times make us wonder why we subject ourselves to something that can capture us so completely that it can tear the very shreds of our souls before stitching them back together again. But we never wonder for too long, do we? It’s because we love it.

Quoting the Quill is a Meme hosted over on Blogs-of-A-Bookaholic every other Wednesday. You can find more information about it here.
